Position Summary
The Photo Manager leads the operation to create warm and personal photography
experiences that our guests can use to celebrate and share their cruise vacations.
They accomplish this by training their teams of photo staff on how to capture and engage
our guests in a variety of settings to produce high-quality products sold in our Photography
storefront.
As a leader in operations, they build trusted relationships with other department heads and
collaborate with them to meet operational & revenue goals
The Photo Manager oversees a multifaceted department that includes several different
Photo businesses including Portrait, Souvenir, and Wedding Photography along with
managing a full retail store and production facility.
In order to consistently exceed guest expectations and provide the highest levels of product
and services, additional duties, and responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Essential Functions
- Oversee the management of the Photo Gallery, Photo Production workflow and
Perspective Studio ensures guest satisfaction targets, revenue goals, expense
budgets are achieved with high staff engagement levels and compliance with
regulatory and operating policies.
• Create an effective, efficient, staff duty schedule that is fair, balanced, and unbiased, and
provides the infrastructure to exceed budgeted goals for revenue and guest
satisfaction.
• Manage all business KPIs to achieve Photo, Perspectives, and Retail Budgeted
Revenues for the entire contract.
• Deliver proper coaching to ensure that all staff achieves image count and sales
targets, consistently on every voyage.
• Deliver Performance Evaluations and disciplinary actions. Responsible for the
completion of all MPEC
• Ensure image quality is maximized for all events through regular ongoing training,
feedback, and coaching of all team members in event/portrait shoot best practices.
• Ensure customer service is always of the highest level, through monitoring, training,
coaching, and developing the team, and leading by example.
- Provide one on one training in sales, photography, and production to continuously
drive revenue and guest satisfaction scores.
• Successfully completed wedding event coverage, delivering an excellent level of service,
product, and sales.
• Complete all reports required by onboard and shore-side management. Complete all
onboard paperwork and reports for immigration, offloads, storing, inventory,
expenses, end-of-voyage, and financial reporting in a timely and accurate manner.
• Execute a coordinated effective sales and promotion strategy for each cruise.
• Ensure continuous adherence of the whole team to company uniform, grooming
standards, and Platinum Standards & Impressions through monitoring, coaching, and
training as required.
• Conduct any necessary disciplinary actions in accordance with current company
policy.
• Photograph any general photo events or special events as the need arises to maximize
department revenues.
• Responsible for all departmental and shipboard environmental rules and regulations.
• Construct positive working relationships with other department heads onboard and
liaise with them to assist with guest service requests, internal activities, and cross-
promotions and photo coverage/opportunities.
- Ensure departmental compliance with all hotel practices and shipboard policies through
training, coaching, and monitoring.
• Ensure system issues are reported to Systems Manager and Shoreside Operations
• Ensuring Handover procedures are fully complied with per SOP.
• Designated and approved training programs are being run correctly and frequently.
• Check company emails daily, responding when required in a timely and professional
manner.
• Responsible for Retail and Production Inventory Control. Ensure accurate inventories
are completed frequently, review needs, create requisitions and follow up to ensure
correct stock is available onboard per SOP and direction from the shoreside
Operations leadership. No overstocked or understocked items. Ensures slow
moving or obsolete items are addressed accordingly.
• Perform other related duties as assigned or as directed by the immediate supervisor.
The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning
duties that are logically related to the position.
• Must be familiar with the Safety, Health, and Environmental Protection Policies of the
company and carry out the policies and procedures appropriate for their position.
• Complete timely and accurate end-of-cruise reports as per SOP with detailed and
qualitative comments, communicating revenue issues or opportunities.
• Proactively participate in all Onboard Revenue meetings, walk-around duties, cabin
inspections, and safety meetings. Look for opportunities for and meets with AGM/GM
informally frequently.
• Regularly collaborate with the AGM/GM to identify revenue/service opportunities and
risks to determine course correction.
• Act as Manager on Duty for Photo Gallery and Photo Events
- Complete accurate, objective, and fair monthly and end-of-contract evaluations on
time, based on observed behavior and performance against targets.
• Ensure timekeeping records for the department are accurately maintained and
monitored in accordance with the current SOP, as well as forwarded to the Payroll
Accountant in a timely manner.
• Perform all general emergency organization duties as directed by Company.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or as directed. The omission of specific
duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically
related to the position.
• Must be familiar with the Safety and Environmental Protection Policy and the SMS,
and carry out the policies and procedures appropriate for his/her position.
Qualification
- Minimum one (1) year of experience managing a multi-faceted high-volume
photographic sales operation is required.
• Minimum one (1) year of experience as a shipboard photographer is required.
• Minimum one (1) year of experience as an Assistant Photo Manager or other
relevant experience is preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; Adobe
Photoshop, Lightroom, and MXP are required.
- Knowledge and experience to operate other advanced computer systems, touch-
screen kiosks and perform basic computer troubleshooting procedures is
preferred.
• Have available at least 1 x department-approved camera body, maintained in full
working condition at the owner’s expense.
• Advanced level English verbal and writing skills, including the proper use of
English grammar is required.
Education
- High School Diploma or Foreign Equivalent is required.
• Bachelor’s Degree or foreign equivalent in a related field from a recognized
educational institution is required. Relevant experience may substitute for this
educational requirement at an equivalent rate.
